Summit Engineering Project Receives Excellence in Construction Award

Willowcreek Golf School

Summit Engineering was pleased to work with Lewis Builders Development, Inc on the design and construction of the Willowcreek Golf School and 9-Hole Par 3 Golf Course Project located at the Atkinson Resort and Country Club in Atkinson, NH. This project received an Associated Builders and Contractors, New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter, 2009 Excellence in Construction Award.

The Atkinson Resort and Country Club wanted to expand its existing golf operations to include a facility devoted to the advancement of young and beginner golfers. The project had many interesting design and construction elements that proposed difficult challenges. The two-year project resulted in over 27,000 man-hours. The hilly terrain required extensive excavation and over three miles of irrigation lines. Due to limited space and the location of the new building, the driving range was sized so it could be used from both ends, serving both the golf course and the new academy. Much of the work had to be done while the range was closed for golf season. From the beginning of the project to the final stages with the tees and greens being designed in the field and the experienced golf course shaper moving excavated material from one location to another, the project was a success.
