Steel Truss Design and Light-Framed Wood Construction

Overview

Erected in 2008, the Willow Creek Golf Academy represents a truly unique engineering feat featuring a hybrid of cold-formed steel truss design for the roof and light-framed wood construction. The 10,000-SF state-of-the-art indoor golf training facility, which is the first of its kind in New England, was designed to accommodate indoor simulated driving ranges as well as heated indoor/outdoor driving ranges. The building, which operates on a year round basis, is a true example of how getting creative with a building structural design can also help meet architectural aesthetic demands.

Summit worked with Lewis Builders Development, Inc. on the project, which took two years and over 27,000 man-hours to complete. The project, which had many interesting structural building design and construction elements, proved difficult, but not impossible. Upon completion the project earned an Associated Builders and Contractors, New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter, 2009 Excellence in Construction Award.
