Alamo Fireworks Steel Frame Design

A Safe and Sturdy Steel Frame Design

Overview

Known as the Fireworks Capital of New England, Londonderry, N.H. was the ideal place for this new retail store owned by Alamo Fireworks, a fireworks seller based out of Texas. The new facility, which opened in 2008 and is based off a safe steel frame structural design, is the first in New Hampshire for this national chain. The company was founded in 1946, and operates over 200 retail locations across four states in the U.S.

Summit Engineering provided the structural design for this one-story, 8,000-SF steel framed retail structure. Summit analyzed several framing options at the beginning of this project. Like in many of our other commercial projects, the relative fire risk of the building’s use warranted non-combustible materials in all of the structural elements — hence the reason for the steel frame design.
